So notes are an aid to memory if you can remember or find them. Some of this could be passed of as "wisdom" or learning from experience but some is not giving a damn what other people think or saying be done with an issue, death is near and killing off friends who were "better people' but that did not protect them - urgency to get things done. Perhaps due to the greater tolerance for one's sins, imperfections etc. Yet again on the other hand some insights and understandings of what happened, what it meant, how it affected your "whole life" become actually clearer. How useful is it to remember the gardenia from the Senior Prom when that gal is long gone, etc, etc and ad nauseam. On the other hand sought after memory like where did I put the car keys, the file folder, the tax envelope drops off. Basically in the elderly, even at best, the cortex than mainly selects, associates, edits, predicts, and evaluates loses power to suppress the (to the cortex) irrelevant and more rather than less "memory" of which there are different types emerges. I think I should have tried to learn Devon Think from what I read about it from users to combine it with Tinderbox and/or Roam. Then turned to LaTex and have been able to publish some handouts and one poster but both Tinderbox and LaTex have been a struggle. For many years struggled with Tinderbox for brainstorming and teaching materials. Collections of links go into Bear on topic pages. Use Roam, Drafts, Bear, have tried Notion, too restrictive. A Bookends bibliography of about 700 items. Have about 100 linear feet of books shelves in two places 1500 miles apart.
